Several mining shovels have been transported throughout this year 2020 and previous years. This machinery is equipment that is not designed to move 40 kilometers because the cost of wear and spare parts is much higher than subcontracting us to move (they are designed to work in a fixed site, if they are going to move they must stop every 10 minutes to rest, so they took longer than us moving them (TM takes approximately 2 days)).
The route of these mining shovels is usually between mines within the same project, approximately 40 km away. Shovels of 450, 561, 650, 800 and 1200 tons were transported. This operation is tedious because it is a long trip with self-propelled modulars (yellow equipment that simulates a “hundred feet” of tires and are operated by remote control, these are only available in Colombia). Additionally, the operator walks at an approximate speed of 3.5km/h-5km/h next to the equipment manipulating the remote control, under the sun.
